Glacier Fish Company operates factory fishing vessels that work in the northern reaches of the Pacific Ocean. Their large vessels enable the practice of freezing pollock and cod at sea on a large scale not feasible for smaller vessels.
Their vessels include Northern Glacier, a 201-foot factory trawler with a crew of 55. They also operate Pacific Glacier, with a crew of 106 and the 376-foot Alaska Ocean, with a crew complement of 130. Because of the complex operations of these types of vessels, which do more than simply catching fish and transporting them to the dock on ice as quickly as possible, there is a more diverse mix of jobs, involving fish processing operations in addition to traditional on-deck fishing personnel.
