The South Street Seaport Museum and its ships are among New York City’s most recognizable landmarks. Founded in 1967, the museum operates as a non-profit cultural institution. In 1998, Congress gave it the designation of America’s National Maritime Museum in Manhattan. See their employment section.
Its Street of Ships at Pier 16 include the Ambrose Lightship, Peking, Wavetree, Pioneer and other historic vessels. For those who are interested in contributing to the preservation of the region’s maritime heritage, their website posts current vacancies. (SSSM)
