In general, Able Seaman and Ordinary Seamen are involved in line handling, passenger safety, lifesaving equipment, and docking operations. Senior level seamen will often supervise or train newcomers. During non-peak times, seamen may be called upon for maintenance duties.
The Delaware River & Bay Authority was formed in 1962 and provides crucial transportation links between Delaware and New Jersey. Overseen by a panel of commissioners from both states, the DRBA operates the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, Delaware City-Salem Ferry, Delaware Memorial Bridge, five local airports and other facilities. It's services are vital for fostering economic development and growth between the two East Coast states. It's fleet includes the ferries New Jersey, Cape Henlopen, and Delaware. The ferry Delaware can easily be recognized by the attractive appearance it took on after its 1996 modernization. (DRBA)
